The American College of Surgeons Quality Verification Program (ACS QVP) on July 18 recognized its inaugural 25 verified hospitals during the ACS Quality and Safety Conference in Chicago.
Launched last summer, ACS QVP provides a standardized method for establishing, measuring, and improving a hospital’s quality infrastructure in all surgical departments.
This year’s centers included two Japanese, one Australian, and 22 US hospitals, which are a variety of types and sizes.
The program is important and unique because it is a wholistic view of how surgery is delivered and how surgery can be improved in a hospital, says Clifford Y. Ko, MD, FACS, director of ACS’s division of research and optimal patient care.
