Of 10,868 patients analyzed, 8,553 had spinal anesthesia and 2,315 had general anesthesia.
The 30-day mortality rate was 0.19% in the spinal anesthesia group and 0.85 in the general anesthesia group. Length of stay for the spinal anesthesia patients was 5.7 days, compared with 6.6 days for the general anesthesia patients.
