In the May 10 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that hepatitis A infections were up 294% in 2016-2018, compared with 2013-2015.
The increases are related to outbreaks among homeless people, men who have sex with men, people who use drugs, and people who ate contaminated food.
The CDC received some 15,000 reports of hepatitis A infections from 2016 to 2018.
