ChristianaCare, a health system in Delaware, is partnering with Atlas Healthcare Partners to develop a new network of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) in Delaware and the mid-Atlantic region, Hospital Management August 14 reports. The partnership will be overseen by a joint board with representatives from both ChristianaCare and Atlas Healthcare.
Studies show that patients prefer ASCs over hospitals given better satisfaction rates and overall experiences. ChristianaCare’s chief strategy officer, Jennifer Schwartz, emphasized in the article the growing importance of ASCs, noting that expanding their availability will allow patients to access affordable, high-quality care closer to home.
ChristianaCare is already established in the ASC sector, operating a center in Newark and partially owning two others in Delaware. Per the article, this new venture with Atlas Healthcare will allow the health system to rapidly expand its network, further meeting the growing demand for outpatient care.
