Free well-being curriculum supports nurse leaders

Editor's Note

In honor of World Mental Health Day October 10, the American Nurses Foundation announced a free curriculum for improving nurse support and well-being.

The free curriculum is available to all nurses. It includes an overview, a training guide for nurse leaders, an implementation guide, and the complete course, “all of which offers continuing education credits for nurses,” the announcement reads.

The curriculum is associated with the organization’s Nurse Well-Being program, which launched in 2022 with a three-year, $3.1 million grant from the United Health Foundation. Initially designed as a peer-to-peer program, Nurse Well-Being has since transitioned to focus more on developing nurse leaders, according to the announcement.

According to the announcement, early survey results show the program has successfully mitigated burnout and stress in pilots at health systems throughout the country. Specifically, the foundation highlights a reported 28% decrease in burnout among nurses enrolled in the pilot program after six months, with 88% of nurses finding the program model easy to use.

The program is available at the American Nurses Foundation website
