From dawn to dark: Full slate of education and fun at OR Manager Conference

Attendees at the 2017 OR Manager Conference enjoyed an exceptionally full day on October 3 that began with a breakfast presentation by Ecolab on leaderships’ role in and methods for improving environmental hygiene in the OR. The presentation was led by Cynthia Spry, MA, MSN, RN, CNOR, CBSPDT.

Keynotes included:

• Cy Wakeman, author and founder of Reality-Based Leadership. She addressed ways to motivate teams to create safe patient experiences and great outcomes while ditching the drama.
• Dennis Snow, former Walt Disney World Company executive and president of Snow Associates. He shared how his experiences led him to understand customer expectations and how nurse leaders can help their teams see through the eyes of the patient.

Breakout sessions included clinical, ambulatory surgery center, business, process improvement, new manager, leadership, and PACU management topics. View the full schedule of sessions online.

Awards were presented honoring the OR Manager of the Year, Emerging Leader, and Ambulatory Services Achievement.

Day 2 concluded with an offsite networking event, OR Manager’s Night Out: Discovery Cove Beach Luau at SeaWorld. Attendees enjoyed Caribbean music, dinner, drinks, and entertainment including live dolphins!
