Joint Commission identifies top five challenging requirements

The Joint Commission has identified five requirements for accreditation that healthcare organizations were most frequently found as “non compliant” during surveys and reviews from January 1 to June 30, 2015.

They are:

  • Laboratory and Point-of-Care Testing QSA.01.01.01: The laboratory participates in Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services approved proficiency testing programs for regulated analytes (79% non compliant).
  • Critical Access Hospital EC.02.05.01: The critical access hospital manages risks associated with its utility systems (63% non compliant).
  • Critical Access Hospital IC.02.02.01: The critical access hospital reduces the risk of infections associated with medical equipment, devices, and supplies (60% non compliant).
  • Hospitals EC.02.06.01: The hospital establishes and maintains a safe, functional environment (59% non compliant).
  • Hospitals IC.02.02.01: The hospital reduces the risk of infections associated with medical equipment, devices, and supplies (54% non compliant).
