Joint Commission issues R3 Report on pain assessment and management standards for hospitals

The Joint Commission has issued a new R3 Report to help accredited hospitals better understand and comply with its new and revised pain management standards, which are effective January 1, 2018.

This R3 Report provides in-depth rationale, references, and evidence used in the development of the new and revised requirements, and it introduces a new format that includes easy-to-use information and a rationale statement for each Element of Performance. 

(OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois - August 30, 2017) - Every day, 91 Americans die from an opioid overdose, according to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. As part of a national effort to address the opioid crisis, The Joint Commission is implementing new and revised pain assessment and management standards, effective January 1, 2018.
