Editor's Note
The Joint Commission on August 28 announced the publication of an R3 Report on two new standards designed to improve the quality and safety of perinatal care in accredited hospitals.
The standards, which will take effect July 1, 2020, require organizations to examine their processes and procedures for the care of women experiencing hemorrhage and severe hypertension/preeclampsia.
The standards include 13 new elements of performance applicable in the Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services chapter at PC.o6.o1.o1 and PC.o6.o1.o3.
The R3 Reports was published to help organizations understand the rationale behind the new standards, the Joint Commission says.
