Joint Commission report shows improvement in patient safety, quality

The Joint Commission on November 7 released its 2016 Annual Report: “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety.”

The report, which includes information on how more than 3,300 accredited hospitals performed on measures of patient care in 2015, showed that hospital performance continued to improve, greatly enhancing quality of care and patient safety.

In conjunction with the report, 39 hospitals were recognized as Pioneers in Quality for using electronic health records to collect data on the quality of patient care and report the data to the Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
