Editor's Note
The Leapfrog Group’s annual awards on hospital quality and patient safety recognized 98 top facilities for 2015.
Out of the 98 facilities honored, 12 were children’s hospitals, 24 were rural hospitals, and 63 were urban hospitals.
California, Massachusetts, and Maine had the most top hospitals on the list. New Hampshire and Utah made the list for the first time.
The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is given annually to the highest performing hospitals on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The award is not given to a set number of hospitals, but rather, to all urban, rural, and children's hospitals that meet the high standards defined in each year's Top Hospitals Methodology, which is updated annually.
