The Leapfrog Group on October 31 released it’s biannual hospital safety report card.
Of 2,812 facilities graded, 844 received an A grade, 658 received a B, 954 received a C, 157 received a D, and 20 received an F.
According to Leapfrog, the measures used by Leapfrog, Medicare, and others as yardsticks to determine quality are beginning to align, such as high-risk surgical outcomes, C-section rates, antibiotic stewardship, and a hospital’s overall culture of safety.
Washington, D.C., October 31, 2016 - Hospital safety breakdowns, including patient injuries, accidents and infections, kill over 200,000 Americans each year, making these errors the third leading cause of death in the U.S. But not all hospitals are alike.
