OR Manager Conference award winners honored

The OR Manager of the Year Award has long been a highlight of the annual conference, and this year’s winner was recognized on October 3 along with winners of two other awards.

The 2017 OR Manager of the Year recipient is Michael A. Hofmann, BSN, RN, regional director of perioperative services, Ascension/St Elizabeth Hospital, Fox Valley, in Appleton, Wisconsin. Colleagues who nominated Hofmann praised his “patients first” philosophy, integrity, and ability to inspire trust through personal leadership.

Casey Orth-Nebitt, OR director at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa, received the Emerging Leader award, which recognizes newer managers of the OR (5 years or less experience) as they pave the way to the future of patient care and OR management.

The Ambulatory Services Achievement award went to Ann Shea, BSN, RN,
nurse manager, pediatric ambulatory surgical unit, pre-surgical testing unit, MRI sedated procedural unit at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Queens, New York.
