Editor's Note

Although we have only just concluded three days of education and networking last week at the 2024 OR Manager Conference in Las Vegas, we’re already looking ahead to next year’s event. Mark your calendar for October 28-30, 2025, when perioperative leaders will gather in at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California for the next gathering of the OR Manager community.

As was the case this year, the event is sure to be appealing to both veteran and new leaders seeking strategies and real-world insights to improve the operations of the surgical suite. However, we are also spicing things up this year by organizing content into new educational tracks. These include:

  • Leadership: Developing emotionally intelligent, adaptable perioperative leaders who balance self-care, mentorship, and regulatory compliance with long-term strategic planning on a holistic journey.
  • Workforce: Examination of human resources challenges, competency development, staffing models, and the creation of a supportive, diverse workplace that supports a culture of safety.
  • New leader: Foundational knowledge for emerging and aspiring leaders in financial management, staff oversight, and clinical leadership, while promoting professional growth and credibility.
  • Business/technology: Perioperative business best practices through value-driven decision-making, inventory management, cost control, and adoption of smart and innovative technologies.
  • Ambulatory surgery: Key considerations for operational efficiency, specialty service, patient outcomes, and financial viability alongside market trend analysis of outpatient surgical facilities.
  • Pre-/postanesthesia Care: Excellence in pain management and anesthesia care continuity via improved communication, collaboration, and clinical practice in pre-op/post-op phases and non-OR procedural spaces.
  • General interest: Featuring excellence in patient safety, care quality, infection prevention, and sterilization protocols alongside cutting-edge content from industry sponsors.

Finally, we encourage anyone interested in sharing their own insights to submit a proposal. We are seeking proposals in the following areas: ambulatory surgery, business management, clinical best practices, leadership strategies, new and/or emerging leaders, workforce development, and pre- and post-anesthesia care.
