Seven schools, hospitals starting new nursing programs

Seven schools and hospitals have added nursing programs and partnerships to help tackle the US nursing shortage, the August 10 Becker’s Hospital Review reports.

  • LSU Health New Orleans’ School of Nursing will offer three accelerated courses, beginning in January 2023.
  • University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, is constructing a new College of Nursing and Public Health Excellence Building.
  • Great Plains Health, North Platte, Nebraska, is partnering with the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing for accelerated clinicals in its BSN program.
  • West Virginia Junior College, Morgantown, and Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, West Virginia, are collaborating on a hybrid nursing program.
  • Herzing University, Milwaukee, recently launched a School of Nursing, encompassing a variety of degree pathways.
  • Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Tallahassee, is expanding its nursing program with three new degree options—Nursing Informatics, Nursing Leadership, and Nursing Education.
  • Klamath Community College, Klamath Falls, Oregon, added an LPN program.
