Could annual hospital supply chain spending reach upwards of $25 billion? Yes, according to a November 2019 Navigant analysis of more than 2,000 hospitals.

OR leaders looking to reduce that spend will find many incentives during the OR Business Management Conference. Multiple sessions will focus on innovations that have saved their organizations large sums, including:

  • how Massachusetts General Hospital has increased accuracy of its disposable supply spend (Tuesday, 9 am)
  • how data analytics helped consolidate and reduce inventory at Inova Health (Tuesday, 9 am)
  • using Lean strategies to streamline processes and reduce waste at Newport Hospital (Wednesday, 9 am) and Northfield Hospitals and Clinics (Wednesday, 10:30 am)
  • adopting a holistic approach to a clinically integrated supply chain at Mercy Hospital (Wednesday, 12:45 pm).

How do you get surgeon buy-in for reducing costs? Answers are provided by leaders at John Muir Health (Tuesday, 10:30 am) and UMC Health System (Wednesday, 9 am).

And on Thursday at 10:15 am, Girard Senn, MS, RN, will walk attendees through the minefield of hidden implant costs.
