Editor's Note
The Joint Commission, on August 9, announced that it is revising a performance measure for the advanced Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement (THKR) Certification Program—THKR-5: Postoperative Functional/Health Status Assessment—to align with a similar Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) measure.
The recently adopted CMS performance measure—Hospital-Level, Risk-Standardized Patient-Reported Outcomes Following Elective Primary Total Hip and/or Total Knee Arthroplasty—is part of the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program.
The change is intended to ease the data collection burden on those who submit data for both measures, The Joint Commission says.
The change is effective January 1, 2024, and will be updated in the v2024A Specifications Manual.
