The Joint Commission to implement new, revised Performance Improvement, Leadership accreditation standards

The Joint Commission announced on June 23 that it will implement new and revised Performance Improvement and Leadership accreditation standards for all of its accreditation programs, beginning January 1, 2022.

The revisions factor in two common themes found in organizations with successful improvement programs:

• adoption of established improvement methodologies and use of associated tools
• development and maintenance of plans for monitoring quality and prioritizing improvement initiatives.

In addition to these themes, the revisions strengthen the link between leadership priorities and goal setting, as well as planning organizational quality assessment and performance improvement efforts, The Joint Commission says.
