Type 2 diabetes linked to hip fracture risk

A statistically significant association was found between type 2 diabetes and the risk of hip fracture in this study.

Researchers analyzed 158,984 patients with and without diabetes.

The incidence of hip fracture in diabetics was 2.3% using the competing risk with death methodology (Fine-Gray models) and 2.6% using Kaplan-Meier functions of hip fracture probability, compared with 1.9% and 2.1%, respectively, in the control group.
